GUIDE
How to go live from an iPhone or Android phone without an app
You do not need to download anything to broadcast from your phone on LiveSnap.tv. The camera and microphone are used straight from your mobile browser, and starting takes about a minute.
What you need
- A phone with a current browser: Safari on iPhone (iOS 11 or later), or Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Brave on Android.
- A working camera and microphone, and your permission for the browser to use them.
- A reasonably stable connection, on Wi-Fi or mobile data.
- You must be at least 18 years old. The first time you broadcast, you confirm this and accept the Terms of Service.
Step by step
- 1
Find the QR code or the phone button
On a computer or tablet, open LiveSnap.tv and scan the QR code next to “Start your broadcast” with your phone’s normal camera app. If you are already on your phone, tap “Broadcast from this phone” instead.
- 2
Open the link in your browser
Tap the link that appears. It opens in your regular browser, with no app store page in between. Check that the address starts with livesnap.tv.
- 3
Allow the camera and microphone
Your browser asks for permission once. Tap Allow. Without it, a web page cannot see or hear anything.
- 4
Take the stage
Tap the button to take the stage. If the stage is free you go live straight away; otherwise you join the queue and wait your turn.
- 5
End the broadcast
Tap the red button to stop. The connection closes and the camera is released. You can also simply close the page.
What happens once you are on the stage
LiveSnap.tv has one shared stage. At any moment exactly one person is broadcasting, and everyone visiting the home page sees that picture. Every broadcast gets a visible sequential number. Under the Terms of Service, a broadcaster without an account has 60 seconds of guaranteed airtime and a registered broadcaster has 600 seconds (10 minutes). After the guaranteed time the broadcast continues until someone else claims the stage.
Viewers do not need an account. They can watch, react, and report a broadcast that breaks the rules. Only logged-in users can post in the chat.
If the camera does not start
- Permission was denied. Open the site settings in your browser, allow Camera and Microphone for livesnap.tv, then reload the page. On iPhone, also check the Safari settings.
- The link opened inside another app. Some in-app browsers block the camera. Use the menu to open the page in Safari or Chrome.
- Another app is using the camera. Close video-call apps and try again.
- The picture freezes when you switch apps. Many phones pause camera capture for pages in the background. Keep the page open and the screen on while you broadcast.
- The picture is poor. Video quality follows your network. Move closer to the router or switch from mobile data to Wi-Fi.
Is anything installed or recorded?
Nothing is installed: the broadcast runs inside a normal web page using the WebRTC standard built into modern browsers. LiveSnap.tv does not record broadcasts and cannot replay a finished one. A viewer could still record their own screen with tools outside our control, so broadcast only what you are comfortable having seen. Camera access belongs to the open page and you can revoke it at any time in the browser settings.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an account to go live?
No. You can broadcast as a guest. A free account adds a reserved broadcaster name, statistics and a longer guaranteed slot.
Can I broadcast from a laptop instead of a phone?
Yes. Broadcasting starts either from the QR code or from the studio page, so a computer with a webcam and a modern browser works too.
Is my broadcast recorded?
LiveSnap.tv does not record or archive broadcasts. See the privacy policy for the technical data that is kept, such as the IP address for 30 days.
What happens if someone reports my broadcast?
Any viewer can report a broadcast without an account. By default the broadcast is stopped automatically after two independent reports, and repeated breaches can lead to a temporary block.
