Live stream with a QR code: scan, allow the camera, go live
A QR code is the quickest way to move from the big screen showing the stage to the camera in your pocket. On LiveSnap.tv it is the bridge between the home page on a computer and the broadcaster studio on your phone.
Why a QR code
The place where you watch the stream is often a computer, a tablet or a large display. The best camera is on your phone. Typing a web address on a phone is slow and error-prone, while a QR code opens the right page in one tap. Because the page is an ordinary website, nothing has to be installed first.
How to scan it
- 1
Open the home page
Go to LiveSnap.tv on a computer or tablet and find the QR code in the “Start your broadcast” section.
- 2
Point the phone camera at the code
On iPhone, open the Camera app and hold it over the code. On Android, use the built-in camera or code scanner. A link appears on the screen.
- 3
Tap the link
The studio page opens in your default browser. Look at the address bar and confirm it says livesnap.tv before you continue.
- 4
Allow access and take the stage
Allow the camera and microphone when asked, then tap the button to take the stage. You go live if the stage is free, or you join the queue.
Already on your phone?
You do not need the QR code at all. On a phone, the home page shows a “Broadcast from this phone” button that opens the same studio page directly.
Using the code in a room
If the home page is shown on a shared screen, anyone nearby can scan the code and join. There is still only one shared stage: one person is live at a time and the others wait in the queue, so a group of friends takes turns rather than broadcasting together. Remember that everything on the stage is visible to every visitor of the site, so the people you film must agree to it.
Safety tips for QR codes
- Scan the code from the real livesnap.tv home page. Printed or pasted codes can be replaced with one that leads somewhere else.
- Check the web address before allowing the camera. It should be livesnap.tv and use HTTPS.
- The camera asks for permission once. Only allow it on the page you meant to open.
If the code will not scan
- Make the code larger on the screen, for example by zooming the browser page or using full-screen mode.
- Reduce glare and raise the screen brightness. Hold the phone steady about 15 to 30 centimetres away.
- Update your camera app, or use the “Broadcast from this phone” button on the phone itself.
- If the link opens inside another app, open it in Safari or Chrome instead.
